Beethoven’s "An die ferne Geliebte", Op. 98 | Clara Schumann’s Romantic Songs: Including "Liebst du um Schönheit" and "Liebeszauber" | Robert Schumann’s Masterpieces: "Mondnacht" from Liederkreis, Op. 39 and the dramatic Fantasie, Op. 17 | Modern Reflections with Jeffrey Ryan: Everything Already Lost, featuring the evocative poetry of Jan Zwicky | Jazz Inspirations by Bill Evans

Centered around themes of love, loneliness, and hope, “Distant Beloved” traces the musical lineage of Beethoven’s landmark song cycle An die ferne Geliebte as it inspired the creative lives of Clara and Robert Schumann.  To conclude the program Duncan and Switzer commissioned a collaboration between poet Jan Zwicky and composer Jeffrey Ryan that traces both their personal connection to Beethoven’s cycle and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest in the song cycle  Everything Already Lost.
